Does the app cost anything?: No. The academy is free and run by volunteers, and the app is free with it. There is no paid tier and no advertising.
Do I need to already have memorised something?: No. The programs are open at every level, including someone starting with Sūrat al-Fātiḥa. There are tracks for correcting recitation and for teaching from scratch, not only for revising memorised passages.
I don't speak Arabic. Can I still join?: Yes. The app is fully available in English, and the academy runs programs specifically for non-Arabic speakers, with companions who can help in English.
Are men and women in the same sessions?: No. The men's and women's sections are permanently separate. Members of one section never appear to the other, in the pool or anywhere else.
Does the app use my camera?: Never. Recitation sessions are voice only. The app asks for your microphone so your recitation reaches your companion, and for notifications so their call can ring your phone.
Are the certificates recognised?: Certificates are accredited by the Maknoon Society for the Memorisation of the Noble Qur'an in Saudi Arabia, under whose licence the academy operates.
What happened to the Telegram channels?: Nothing — they are all still running. You can find every one of them on the programs page. The app is what we recommend now, but no group has been closed.
